Nigerians on social media have reacted to the statement Nollywood actress, Adesua Etomi made about the local Nigerian soup “Gbegiri”. According to Adesua Etomi, she thinks Gbegiri is overrated and does not like if for anything.

The 32 year old disclosed that peer pressure made her suffer by eating gbegiri soup. She however came to a conclusion that Gbegiri soup is trash.

In her words;

“I’ve decided that gbegiri is trash. Peer pressure made me eat it with my amala but I have grown as an individual and now I know without a shadow of doubt that I prefer my amala with ewedu and fried peppery stew. Signed, Ex gbegiri sufferer”.

For those who do not know, Gbegiri soup is a very popular Nigerian beans soup. It’s made with black eyed or brown beans. Gbegiri soup has got to be one of the easiest, no fuss soups to make, if you’ve never attempted it, you’ll be shocked to find out just how easy it is. Gbegiri is best enjoyed with either Tuwo Shinkafa or Amala and Ewedu soup.

See reactions below;

Haba Adesua, this isn't fair. Emphasis that Lagos Gbegiri is trash. Be fair. You want the real Gbegiri, go to Mapo Hall, or Makola in Ibadan. My Mum should also have a PhD in that special soup. Suffer no more, and pls don't drop it. Ibadan is here to help. Oyo State lo ni..😁😁😁
