News Of Burna Boy’s Arrest Is Rumour, They Just Recycled An Old Story, Lagos State Police PRO Says
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On Sunday, May 24, Nigerians woke up to blog posts, and social media conversations alleging that multiple award winning music superstar Burna Boy alongside his dad had been arrested after a neighbourhood fiasco. It appears the video that surfaced online of the arrest is false.

According to a report by Nigerian Entertainment Today, the Lagos Police said that they do not have the Grammy-nominated artiste in their custody.

DSP Bala Elkana, Lagos State Police PRO, debunked the viral news and clearly stated that Burna Boy was not arrested yesterday, Sunday, May 24, as the reports online claims.

He said, “They just recycled an old story. There was something that happened a very long time ago and it was resolved then. It’s not a recent event… But we don’t have him in our custody. He wasn’t arrested yesterday, we don’t even have complaints against him from yesterday.”

He added, “We don’t have such a case as reported online now. The reports online claim that he was arrested yesterday by our men but it’s not true. We don’t have such reports. That is my confirmation.”

There’s been no word from Burna Boy or his team regarding the news.
