At least 300 Nigerians have arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from the United Arab Emirates, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has said.
The Nigerians arrived Abuja on Friday via Emirates Airline as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to rescue nationals abroad stranded due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
“300 Stranded Nigerians in UAE landed in Abuja, Nigeria today, Friday 19th June 2020 via @emirates,” NIDCOM tweeted.
“All evacuees are to go on compulsory 14 days SELF ISOLATION according to the new Protocol by the Presidential Task Force on #Covid_19.”
NIDCOM Chairman/CEO, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, also tweeted saying the evacuees tested negative for coronavirus before boarding the plane.
“They will be tested again at an @NCDCgov facility while on a 14 day compulsory self-isolation as directed by the @DigiCommsNG,” she added.

In other news, National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu on Tuesday, June 9, disclosed that the government spent N169million on the evacuation of Nigerians from different countries following the outbreak of Coronavirus.
This was disclosed by Aliyu while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
