On Friday, June 19, the Nigerian high commission in Accra, Ghana was attacked by armed men, destroying some apartments under construction.

Former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode aka FFK, in reaction to the news says the recent attacks on the High Commission in Ghana would not happen under former President Olusegun Obasanjo or military dictator, Sani Abacha.

Mr Fani-Kayode tweeted this on Monday in reaction to the demolition of the High Commission in Ghana and threats on its staff last Friday.

“Nigerian traders in Ghana have had their shops forcefully shut for the last 8 months,” he wrote.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that the demolition was carried out by a Ghanaian businessman who claimed the commission was encroaching on his land.

Following calls for action, Ghanaian authorities have apologised for the incident and assured that the issue would be resolved.

The attack on the commission comes as the latest in a string of hostile actions towards Nigerians resident in Ghana.
