Two die as petrol laden tanker, truck explode after collision in Osun

No fewer than two persons have been confirmed dead after a petrol tanker and fish laden truck had a head-on collision along Ibadan-Ife road, Gbongan in Irewole Local Government Area in Osun State.

The Spokesperson of Federal Fire Service, Mrs. Adijat Basiri, who confirmed the incident to newsmen on Friday, said the accident occurred around 10:30 am.

According to her, a team of fire fighters were sent out to the location after they received a distress call reporting the incident.

“At about 11am, we received a distress call about the incident about a collision between a tanker of Premium Motor Spirit and a truck of fish which resulted in a fire outbreak.

“Our men were immediately sent to the location to put the situation under control.

“However, there were two casualties involved from the fish truck.

“The driver of fish truck and his motor boy were razed in the fire while the tanker driver was lucky to escape with a minor injury.

“Vehicle details unavailable for now. we had to ask for assistance and turn out two appliances,” she said.
