The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Thursday, 18 December 2025, blocked Indomie Vegetable Noodles Flavour after receiving a recall alert from the French consumer safety authority, Rappel Conso.
Recall that Rappel Conso, a French consumer‑safety body, issued a recall notice for Indomie Vegetable Noodles Flavour because of undeclared allergens (milk and eggs) that could pose serious health risks to consumers with allergies or intolerances.
According to the recall notice, all batches with a best‑before date of 6 February 2026 are affected and must be withdrawn from all markets to prevent a possible health crisis.
What Is Indomie Vegetable Noodles Flavour?
It is a popular instant‑noodle product with a light, refreshing vegetable taste accented by a subtle hint of lime. It is made from wheat flour, refined palm oil, and various seasonings including salt, monosodium glutamate, and artificial flavour.
It contains allergens such as wheat, soybean, and milk, and is produced in a facility that also processes peanuts, crustaceans, fish, eggs, and sesame.
NAFDAC’s Response?
Following the recall alert from Rappel Conso, NAFDAC officials swung into action. They visited major stores and malls to remove the affected Indomie Vegetable Noodles Flavour from shelves.
The agency also began taking precautions to stop the entry of the recalled product (best‑before 6 February 2026) into Nigerian markets.
The federal agency directed its zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify surveillance and to mop up any of the product found in circulation.
Consumers are advised to exercise caution, discard the product if encountered, and report any suspected sale or distribution to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the toll‑free line 0800‑162‑3322.
Clarifications?
Claims circulating on social media that NAFDAC has banned the sale and manufacture of Indomie are false, misleading and untrue. NAFDAC did not ban Indomie.
It issued a public recall alert for a specific Indomie flavour – the vegetable flavour made in France – because it contained undeclared milk and egg allergens that were not listed on the label.
Rappel Conso warned that these hidden ingredients can trigger severe allergic reactions in people with sensitivities.
In fulfilling its public‑health mandate, NAFDAC warned consumers, ordered nationwide mop‑ups, and blocked any possible entry of the recalled product into Nigerian markets.
The affected Indomie is not manufactured in Nigeria; it was imported and is not registered with NAFDAC. All Indomie noodles produced locally by Dufil Prima Foods are safe and fully compliant with Nigerian regulations.
A check confirms that noodles are on Nigeria’s Import Prohibition List, making legal importation of Indomie into the country impossible.
NAFDAC’s action is therefore a safety recall of a foreign‑sourced batch with undeclared allergens, coupled with a vigilance campaign to keep it out of Nigerian markets.
