WALE: Meet ‘Olubowale Victor Akintimehin’, the Nigerian-American rapper who supposedly introduced Wizkid to a global audience

Nigerian-American rapper Olubowale Victor Akintimehin has acknowledged his part in bringing Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known by his stage name Wizkid, to a global audience. 


Wale described his long-standing relationship, nearly a decade with Afrobeats sensation Wizkid while discussing his role in the musician’s career growth.

Wale, who appeared on a recent livestream with Cater Efe, revealed his passion for Nigerian music, saying he enjoys listening to various artists from the country.

He also disclosed that he knows Wizkid personally and shared how he took him to his first BET Awards show.

His parents are Doris and Ayo Akintimehin

He is a Nigerian-American rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer

He attended Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland, in 2022

He also attended Robert Morris University and Virginia State University on football scholarships before transferring to Bowie State University

He attended Bowie State University but dropped out due to academic concerns

He was influenced by the city’s unique go-go music scene

His music career took off with his hit single “Dig Dug (Shake It)” in 2006, which became popular in his hometown

He signed with Allido Records in 2007 and released his debut album, “Attention Deficit,” in 2009

He has since released several albums, including “Attention Deficit” (2009), “Ambition” (2011), “The Gifted” (2013), “The Album About Nothing” (2015), “Shine” (2017), That’s Crazy” (2019), and “Folarin II” (2021)

Wale is known for his clever wordplay and captivating slow jams

He’s also an avid fan of professional wrestling and has made appearances on WWE television

He is known for blending hip-hop with go-go, a genre that originated in Washington, D.C

Wale’s notable achievements include:- Awards: BET Award for Best Collaboration (2012), Best Hip-Hop Video for “Lotus Flower Bomb” (2013)
