Residents of Ugbene-Ajima community, Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state are in pains, anguish and dismay as the primary health center in the area has gone into dilapidation and ruins.
WITHIN NIGERIA gathered that the health centre which is only presence of government in the community has become an eyesore as all the facilities in the centre has totally become comatose.
However, lamenting the ugly situation, one of the residents of the community, Mathias Ezeaku told our reporter that “this community has over 40 villages that made up the community. Here is where Enugu state government provides for the communities to be receiving their treatment including the pregnant women as a place to deliver their babies.”

Appealing to the state governor, Mr. Ezeaku explained that the community needs a better treatment after voting the governor into power in 2023 general elections.
“His excellency Peter Ndubuisi Mbah please come to the rescue of Uzo Uwani LGA Enugu state. This is how your government and past government left us after collecting our votes.
“Uzo Uwani youths have declared that no one from Uzo Uwani will vote any political party coming 2027 if our demand is not done.
“We demand for the renovation of all the health centres in Uzo Uwani LGA Enugu state.
“We demand that all the health centres should be equipped with Oxygen and new hospital beds.
“That all the hospital in Uzo uwani should be fenced, equipped with securities and cleaners, together with clean ambulance for emergency rescues.
“Steady power supply and functioning running water, our demand is very simple.”
Another resident, Uche Ugwor told WITHIN NIGERIA that ” our community has been totally neglected by the successive governments, both in the centre, state and local government. We cannot continue like this for all I know.”
Lamenting further, Mr. Ugwor said that “our women die regularly because we don’t have good health center where they can access good healthcare. This is unheard of in this 21st century.

” We are appealing to the state governor, Peter Mbah and the local government chairman to come to our aid on this dire situation.”
However, when our reporter visited the health centre, only two staff nurse were seen, sitting on side stools chatting away their time.
By and large, none of these nurses was able to speak with our reporter for fear of victimization.
In any case, when our reporter went round the health centre, there was basically no working facility in the health centre. Almost all the patients’ beds have broken even as some of the foams were no where to be found.
When our reporter contacted the Executive Chairman of Uzo-Uwani local government area, Barr. Chijioke Ezugwu for his comment on the matter, his phone number was not going through
