The appointment of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu as Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the second term of five years has been confirmed on Tuesday by the Senate.
This is coming after the report of senate committee on INEC led by Senator Kabiru Gaya was submitted at the plenary and in the report, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood was recommended for confirmation.
Before Prof. Mahmood was confirmed by the senate, he was described as apolitical and highly qualified for the job of electoral umpire by senators who spoke in support of his confirmation.
