Gunmen kill two senior police officers after releasing kidnapped victims in Jigawa

At least two senior police officers have been murdered and one other injured in a gun battle with gunmen at Kalgo village of Garki Local Government Area of Jigawa State after releasing kidnapped victims.

The murdered officers include one DCO 1 Dan Kaka Muhammad and DCO ll Shitu Muhammad who are working with Maigatari local Government Divisional police office.

The incident happened today around 12:30 Pm after the release of two persons abducted at Bosuwa village after they received ransom.

This is coming days after the gunmen killed one police man in an effort to rescue the victims.

Newsmen reports that gunmen kidnapped 70-year-old Alh. Ali Dankoli and 25-year-old Zainab Isah, who is a daughter of former chairman, Maigatari Local Government Isa Zakari Bosuwa.

An eyewitness told newsmen that the incident happened when a combined team of security operatives located the hideout of the suspected gunmen at Kalgo village in Garki local Government.

However, in the cause of fire exchange, two senior police officers were killed instantly and one other police injured.

Police spokesman, Jigawa State Command, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident.

“There was gun fire exchange between our men and some criminals were two of our men were killed and one injured at Kalgo village in Garki LGA of the state.

He said he is yet to receive details of the incident also promised to give details later.

“I’m still waiting for details on the unfortunate incident, but will get back to you as soon as I got it,” Jinjiri stated.
