The office of the Niger Head of Service (HoS) has said civil servants in the state have resumed normal work on Wednesday after the two-day Eid-el-Fitr holidays.
Hajiya Salamatu Abubakar, the HoS, disclosed this on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna.
“The civil servants in Niger state have complied with the resumption of work today after the Salah break,” she said.
Abubakar said that she was satisfied with the level of attendance by the workers, who later proceeded to participate in the “Workers Day” on Sunday, but was shifted to Wednesday.
She appealed to the workers to continue to be loyal and law-abiding to enable the government to implement its policies and programmes geared toward developing the state.
The HoS said that the government was doing everything possible to improve the workers’ welfare but for the economic challenges.
“We want the workers to be patient with the government because of the situation we find ourselves in the country now,” she said.
Also, Dr. Joseph Kolo, Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Office of the HoS, told NAN that work had started in the state.
“I am already treating files that will be forwarded to the HoS,” he added.
Yakubu Garba, a civil servant, told NAN at the state secretariat that work had begun except for workers who were participating in the Workers’ Day celebration.
