Naira Abuse: EFCC scapegoating celebrities – Actor, Seun Jimoh
  • Seun Jimoh highlighted how unfair that certain people are being selected for a crime almost 70% of Nigerians are guilty of with overwhelming video evidence all over the internet.
  • He argued that the scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite bad and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens.

Nigerian actor, Seun Jimoh, has voiced his concerns regarding the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recent actions.

He suggests that the EFCC may be unfairly targeting celebrities in their intensified efforts to enforce laws against the misuse of Naira.

Seun Jimoh’s comments came in response to reports that the EFCC plans to prosecute Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, on charges related to Naira misuse.

This follows the arrest of the controversial crossdresser Bobrisky for a related offense.

Jimoh expressed his disapproval of the selective enforcement, pointing out that a significant amount of the Nigerian population could potentially be implicated for similar actions, as evidenced by many videos available online.

He criticized the method of using public figures as examples for legal enforcement as being particularly harmful and inconsiderate of the psychological well-being of Nigerian citizens.

Taking to his Instagram, Jimoh shared his thoughts:

“It looks like scapegoats are being selected to send a message to the general populace. But then, is it not unfair that certain people are being selected for a crime almost 70% of Nigerians or more are guilty of with overwhelming video evidence all over the internet?!

“Why hasn’t anyone ever caught on video spraying money between the time the law has been in effect till now being arrested? Why celebrities? Celebrities are citizens too! This scapegoat approach to cultural reforms is quite sinister and lacks any concern for the mental health of the Nigerian citizens.”

Seun Jimoh cautioned such women on the need to keep their extra marital affairs or cheating away from their partner.

Giving reasons, the Yoruba actor stated that it is a hard pill for men to swallow when they find out that their women had an affair.

According to him, men don’t forgive cheating and as such, women should keep the mistake to themselves. He added that if they ever confess, their men will hold it over and punish them with it for the rest of their life.
