Why I outrightly condemned House of Ga’a movie – Motilola Akinlami

Actress and filmmaker Motilola Akinlami has tendered an apology after criticizing the epic movie “House of Ga’a.”

The movie was directed by Bolanle Austen Peters and released on Netflix.

In a now-deleted post, Motilola shared her review of the movie, which sparked backlash from fans who felt she was discrediting the filmmaker’s work.

In a more recent post on her Instagram page, Motilola clarified that her intention was not to undermine anyone’s hard work but to share her observations.

She acknowledged the skill and effort involved in creating the movie and apologised for any misunderstandings her comments may have caused.

Motilola praised “House of Ga’a” as a great movie with its unique flavours and perspectives, adding that she only saw her own side of the story.

She emphasised that different people have different opinions and apologised again for any offence caused.

The actress concluded by reiterating that “House of Ga’a” is a great movie and wished her followers a blessed week ahead. She wrote:

“Apologies are in order as regards a post I did last week. After due reflection, I realised how that post may have been misconstrued to mean I was trying to bring down someone’s hard work. 

“That, in fact, isn’t the case. It’s not in my character. I recognise the hard work and skill that went into putting together that beautiful work of Art.

“I merely made an observation that I took down about 2 minutes after I read it again and had a conversation with a couple of people. I see how that may have sounded the way it did.

“Having said that, HOUSE OF GA’A is a great movie that has its own flavours and add-ons, as there are many sides to a coin.  

I only saw my own side, and for this, I apologise. Again, I’m sorry if that came across the wrong way.

I honestly didn’t mean for that to happen. Different strokes for different folks. I should have known better.
