He also questioned the metrics and yardstick by which the revenue generated by an artiste through the streaming of their music is calculated, wondering why his streams from foreign listeners did not reflect in his revenue.
Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has bemoaned the lack of substantial revenue from the streaming of his music.
He lamented that revenue generation from Apple Music was abysmally low and nothing to write home about, despite releasing songs monthly and having many diaspora fans.
The Zazu crooner, who voiced his frustration over the awful situation in a recent video broadcast, appealed to the renowned music executive Don Jazzy to come to his aid.
He added that if Don Jazzy taught him how to boost his revenue generation on streaming platforms he would be bigger than his contemporaries in the music business.
Portable said, “I am in pain, I have been putting my song on Apple Music every month but the money I am generating is too low.”
He also questioned the metrics and yardstick by which the revenue generated by an artiste through the streaming of their music is calculated, wondering why his streams from foreign listeners did not reflect in his revenue.
“They said it is because Nigerian streams are cheap but I also have fans in America and all over the world. Where is the revenue from those foreign streams?
“Don Jazzy, please, help me and teach me how to generate more money from music streams. I have an Apple
“Music account but the revenue that I receive is very low. They divide my earnings into 17. Please, come and teach me how to fetch music money.
“If Don Jazzy teach me how to generate more money from streaming platforms, I would be bigger than all artistes in Nigeria.”
