A Nigerian woman has fallen into labor and birthed her baby by the roadside on Wednesday, September 21.

A Twitter user identified as Tornubari Fii, shared the photos of the woman with her child, while narrating how the event unfolded. The woman had unexpectedly fallen into labour and the nearest medical service providers were alerted.

It was learnt that the incident took place at Ijesa Isu/Ikole road, in Ekiti state. The tweep went on to praise a nurse who rushed to the scene to help the woman in labour have a successful birth. The photos were captioned:

“It is another day to celebrate Nigeria Nurses for the heroic job they do to preserve life.

Nurse Oladipo Blessing of General Hospital, Ijesa Isu Ekiti was informed that a woman had gone into labour along Ijesa isu/Ikole road. The nurse rushed to the scene & delivered the baby.

The mother and her newborn have been admitted to the General Hospital, Ijesa Isu Ekiti for further care and they are both in good condition.

Despite poor working conditions and poor remuneration, Nurses and midwives in Nigeria go the extra mile to save lives.

Let us celebrate Nurse Oladipo Blessing for her heroic action today.”
