  • A swift and calculated move by the Enugu State Police Command has led to the arrest of three culprits at the heart of a sensation-stirring prank video.
  • This footage portrayed a distressing scene where a woman found herself on the receiving end of physical assault, an unceremonious stripping and a daring hair-shaving episode.

The Enugu police command has arrested three skit makers for making an extreme video wherein one of them — a lady — was allegedly assaulted.

The suspects were identified as Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi a.k.a. MC Sharp (male) 32; Chinenye Agbo a.k.a. Star Ella Ada (female) 26; and Anastasia Onu (female) 25.

In the explosively popular video circulating far and wide, Chinenye seemed to have endured a brutal thrashing, leaving her garments in tatters and her once-luscious hair brutally shaved against her will.

The footage ignited a fiery storm of condemnation, sweeping through the hearts and minds of Nigerians all around the nation.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ahmed Ammani, the commissioner of police, ordered a “thorough investigation” into the viral video.

The statement signed by Daniel Ndukwe, Enugu police spokesperson, added that upon further investigation, the trio claimed the “video was a prank and meant to garner followers”.

The CP added that those involved will be “prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to anyone who may want to perpetrate such an act under the guise of a prank”.

“Enugu police operatives arrest individuals involved in the viral video of young lady being beaten, stripped and hair forcefully shaved as CP Ammani orders thorough investigation and prosecution to serve as deterrent,” the statement reads.

“Police operatives serving in Nsukka Area Command of the Enugu State Command, on 14/08/2023, identified and arrested one Obed Chekwube Ugwuanyi a.k.a. MC Sharp (male), aged 32. Chinenye Agbo a.k.a. Star Ella Ada (female), aged 26, and Anastasia Onu (female), aged 26.

“The trio and others at large are involved in the viral video wherein Chinenye was seen being beaten, her cloth torn and stripped, and her hair forcefully shaved on the allegation of beating up Anastasia, who is Obed’s girlfriend, and giving her a human bite on the chest.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that the trio are, however, claiming that the video, which has generated public outcry and condemnation due to the inconceivable assault, inhuman and degrading treatments meted out on Chinenye as seen in the video, is a prank and meant to garner followers on their social media accounts.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ahmed Ammani, while condemning the act, has ordered the State CID Enugu to thoroughly investigate and prosecute those found culpable, to serve as a deterrent to anyone who may want to perpetrate such an act under the guise of a prank.”
