Eniola, the physically challenged hawker who gained widespread attention for disguising himself as a woman to sell water and subsequently receiving financial aid, has come forward with claims of fleeing his home due to severe mistreatment by his family.
Following his exposure as male and the reception of financial assistance amounting to N600K from comedian Brain Jotter, Eniola shared a video online detailing the alleged abuse he endured within his family.
In the video, Eniola asserted that he ran away from home to escape the repeated maltreatment, particularly highlighting the physical abuse inflicted by his mother on him.
On the other hand, Eniola’s mother identified as Akin Abolade in an interview, contradicted some of her son’s statements. She clarified that her child’s name is Sultan, not Eniola, and disclosed that he is 18 years old, disputing the age of 23 mentioned by Eniola.
Expressing her anguish, the mother recounted that Sultan left home in 2020. Despite the apparent rift, she revealed that she loves him more than all her four children.
She also spoke about how Eniola turned down her request for money after he began receiving donations from people, she said:
“I asked him to send me money yesterday when his video went viral on social media and Nigerians were sending money to him. But his response to me was ‘mummy don’t worry it will soon be your turn for now it isn’t you turn. This boy has made me cry a lot.”
