The Nigerian Army has handed over Ayomide Adeleye, a 23-year-old OOU undergraduate student, to the Lagos State Police.
This move follows the recent abduction and murder of Idowu Christianah, a student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Ayomide Adeleye had been apprehended by the military after allegedly kidnapping and killing Christianah, demanding a ransom of ₦3 million from her family.
In a recent update, Superintendent Ben Hundeyin of the Lagos State Police confirmed the transfer in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).
He reported that the handover occurred on September 5, 2024, at approximately 2:00 PM.
“23-year-old Ayomide Adeleye has been handed over to @LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade @HQNigerianArmy. The handover took place today, September 5, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin wrote.
The Lagos State Police have now taken over the investigation into the case, as they work to bring clarity and justice in light of the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding Christianah’s death.
