25-year-old, Ese Brume has won the first medal for Nigeria at the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The 3-time African senior champion won bronze in long jump in the early hours of today, Tuesday, August 3.

Brume came third behind World champion Malaika Mihambo, who jumped 7.00m in the final round of the women’s long jump competition at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium on Tuesday (3 Aug).

USA’s Brittney Reese won a silver medal with a jump of 6.97.

Brume emulated her bronze medal at the 2019 world championships, with third place after jumping the same distance as Reece. However, she dropped behind the American who recorded a longer second-best jump than her.
