The Kogi State House of Assembly on Wednesday suspended the Executive Chairman of Kogi Local Government Mr Abdulkareem Isah Sanni over alleged criminal involvement while in office.

The suspension of Sanni was sequel to a resolution by members of the house when the Speaker of the Assembly Prince Mathew Kolawole read a letter from Governor Bello indicting the council boss of alleged criminal activities.

Kolawole in his ruling said the suspension of the council boss will last pending the outcome of the Department of State Service, (DSS) investigation.

He, however, directed that the Vice Chairman of the Local Government Hasana Jezhi step in as the acting chairman.

Cosmos Atabor, a member representing Igalamela Odolu Constituency before the speaker’s ruling noted that since there was an indictment on the council boss, it will not be right for him to continue to serve in office.

Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has sent over N30 billion supplementary budget to the Kogi State House of Assembly for approval.

The budget was, however, referred to the House Committee on Budget and Finance to act upon.
