As the battle against COVID-19 continues, Nigeria has recorded 165 new cases of the deadly disease in nine states and the federal capital territory, Abuja.

This was announced by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in its daily update for October 24.

According to the agency, the latest positive samples were recorded in nine states and the federal capital territory (FCT).

The states that reported the new cases are Lagos (77), FCT (43), Rivers (22), Oyo (10), Osun (6), Bayelsa (2), Edo (2), Kaduna (1), Kano (1) and Ogun (1).

The NCDC update showed that 4,188 persons were discharged after recovering from the infection on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 26 persons were confirmed to have died of COVID complications — the highest figure since October 18.

The agency noted that Sunday’s update includes a backlog of infections, recoveries, and deaths reported from Lagos and FCT.

So far, NCDC has recorded 210,460 infections, 202,379 recoveries, and 2,882 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
