The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended one of its airfield officers over an incident that occurred at the Lagos airport on Thursday.
A statement issued by the spokesperson of FAAN, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, declared: “Following an averted near incident involving a Max Air aircraft from Abuja, which landed on Runway 18L, and a maintenance vehicle belonging to the Civil Department of the authority, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has suspended the airfield officer on duty at the time of the incident.”
According to Yakubu, FAAN had commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident, with a view to preventing future recurrence.
Latest incident was the second time this month that Max Air will be involved in such incident.
The first incident happened on December 11, 2021, at the Benin airport, when a Max Air aircraft marked 5N-ADB and taxiing, rammed its right wing onto an Air Peace aircraft 5N-BUQ boarding Abuja bound passengers.
The incident damaged the left elevator of the Air Peace aircraft thereby rendering the aircraft grounded and unserviceable.
All passengers onboard the Air Peace plane were however disembarked and moved into another aircraft deployed to operate the flight.
