A House of Representatives aspirant in Osun state, Muslihudeen Adekilekun, has left the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state for New Nigeria Peoples Party.

Adekilekun is aspiring to represent Ede North/Ede South/Egbedore/Ejigbo Federal Constituency at the lower legislative chamber.

Adekilekun announced his defection in an interview with PUNCH in Ede, he cited imposition of candidate for his decision to dump APC.

Adekilekun said he had been contributing to the growth of the ruling party in Osun since 2011, yet its leaders often impose candidates during the party’s primaries, thereby sacrificing loyalty and dedication.

“APC, particularly in Edeland, operates like a cult. It has become a party that encourages bribery over loyalty; prefers godfatherism to popularity/acceptability, honours and lords newcomers over faithful members and goes for manipulation instead of integrity.

“The party, over the years, has always welcomed and positioned people of questionable character, whose traits are contrary to her principles of equity an  fairness.

“Since it is now as clear as daylight that the leadership of the party in Edeland are hell-bent on denying me the opportunity to offer  quality representation to my esteemed constituency, I was left with no option but to seek an alternative political party where I will have the opportunity to prove my mettle against their anointed candidate in the general elections. And my new party is New Nigeria Peoples Party,” Adekilekun said.
