Two suspects, Jacob Peter and Baba Ochi, have been arraigned before Ilorin magistrates’ court in Kwara State.

The duo were docked for stealing 450 chickens on a farm in Lasoju, Asa LGA.

The prosecutor, Inspector Iwaloye AbdulRauf, told the court that the incident which occurred on June 4, 2022, led to their arrest by a vigilante, Yusuf Samuel, who handed them over to the police.

Peter pleaded guilty to the charge and told the court he could not remember the exact number of chickens they stole.

Ochi on his part, said he was innocent and didn’t use to go with him (Peter) to steal the chickens. He, however, admitted that they used to eat them together after any successful operation by Peter.

The Magistrate, Moshood Ajibade, ordered Peter to be remanded at a correctional centre and admitted Ochi to bail of N300,000 with two sureties and adjourned to July 5.
