‘Sustainable energy, cholera outbreaks’ — FG approves N4.7bn for 219 TETFund research grants

For the 2021 grant cycle, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund (NRF) program will award 219 research grants totaling N4,736,782,352.21 to successful applicants.

Following the TETFund National Research Fund Screening and Monitoring Committee’s report, this happened (NRFS&MC).

After a thorough screening process that started in November 2021 with the receipt of 4,810 concept notes from potential applicants, it recommended funding for the 219 research proposals.

A breakdown of the approval indicated that N3,066,156,844.61 was approved for the Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI) thematic group, N806,381,998.00 for Humanities and Social Science (HSS) while Cross Cutting (CC) received N864,242,509.60, with individual grants ranging from N4.5 million to over N41 million.

The Acting Director, Public Affairs, TETFund, Abdulmumin Oniyangi, in a statement on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the agency, Sonny Echono on Monday in Abuja, said some of the approved research works are tailored towards enhancing national development.
