Antonio Conte, the manager of Tottenham Hotspur, believes that he should not be held solely responsible for the team’s poor performance.

Antonio Conte, who left at least three elite clubs before joining Tottenham a season ago, emphasized that other people at Tottenham should also be held accountable for the club’s poor run.

Spurs have now lost five of their last nine league games, including a 2-0 loss to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.

They fell to fifth in the table, five points behind Manchester United and Newcastle United, both of whom have games in hand.

The Spurs’ season has been so difficult that they have only collected 10 points in their last 27 games. On Thursday, they will face reigning Premier League champions Manchester City. The game will begin at 21:00.

Ahead of the must-win Premier League game, Conte said:

In England, I think there’s a bad habit that it’s only the coach [who] talks and explains.

I’ve never seen the medical department coming here to explain. I’ve never seen the club or the sporting director coming here to explain the strategy or vision of the club.

In Italy, before every game, there’s a person from the club that goes to speak to the media.

I think for us it could be really better, otherwise there is only one face to explain the situation that I think is better for the club to explain.”

The Italian tactician added:

I think it could be good for the club to be present in the media.

Not every week, but at least every 15 days or once a month. I think it could be more simple for you to understand, otherwise, it can seem [as] if something is a criticism or negative and it’s not the case.
