The English Football Association has launched an investigation after objects were thrown at Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne during Wednesday night’s 3-1 victory over Arsenal.

Kevin de Bruyne was attacked as he walked off the field after being substituted late in the game.

Since the FA decided to take action, the game’s referee, Anthony Taylor, may have mentioned it in his match report.

In addition, Arsenal stated that they are investigating CCTV footage and will take harsh measures if the perpetrators are found.

“This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said an Arsenal spokesperson.

De Bruyne scored twice as Manchester City defeated Arsenal 3-1. Because of their superior goal difference, City has moved ahead of Arsenal in the league table.

Following the game, the Belgian midfielder took to Instagram with the caption “beer anyone?” to share a photo of when objects were thrown at him.

De Bruyne also shared a photo of himself with a cup in the air, captioned “thanks!”

Kevin De Bruyne was involved in a brawl with Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, who was a former assistant coach to Pep Guardiola at City, during the top-of-the-table clash between Arsenal and Manchester City.

Gabriel of Arsenal caused the ball to go out for a throw-in five minutes into the second half.

Arteta slowed the action by attempting to kick the ball away in order to frustrate the Manchester team.

In response, the visibly enraged Belgian midfielder shoved Mikel Arteta and retrieved the ball from him.

After gaining possession of the ball, Kevin De Bruyne poked Arteta in the face to express his displeasure with what the Arsenal manager attempted.
