Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission for Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo, has been abducted by gunmen
Izonfuo was kidnapped at Ogbakiri junction on the East-West road, Rivers State, the police in the oil rich Niger Delta state said.
According to spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, Izonfuo was kidnapped on Sunday evening alongside her maid and driver.
She was said to be on her way to Port Harcourt from Brass, Bayelsa State.
It was gathered that her abductors, on Monday made contact with her family, demanding N500 million as ransom.
The spokesperson of the State Command said the Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical teams to ensure she is rescued safe and unhurt.
