Sudan: Egyptian border opened after Buhari’s intervention, says Dabiri-Erewa

Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) Abike Dabiri-Erewa has said Egypt has finally opened its border for Nigerians fleeing Sudan.

Dabiri-Erewa, who disclosed this on her Twitter handle, said this was made possible after the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

However, she added that the border was opened with strict conditions.

“The border has just been opened, (with stringent conditions) after President Buhari’s intervention with the Egyptian President.

“So, the processing of evacuees by the Nigerian Embassy in Egypt will begin.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria Air Force (NAF) C 130 on Saturday, April 29, arrived Aswan Airport Egypt to evacuate Nigerians stranded in Sudan.

Since April 15, there has been infighting between factions of the Sudanese Security forces – the Army led by General Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) under the command of General Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, otherwise known as Hemedti.
