Kayode Ajulo, a legal practitioner, has stated that King Charles of the United Kingdom may pardon embattled former Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu during his coronation ceremony.

WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that Ekweremadu was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison by a UK court on Friday for plotting to harvest a man’s kidney for his sick daughter.

Beatrice Ekweremadu was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, while Obinna Obeta, a medical doctor, was sentenced to ten years in prison for the same offense.

The defendants were charged with conspiracy to arrange the travel of a young Nigerian man named David Nwamini to the United Kingdom in order to exploit him for his kidney.

Sonia, Ekweremadu’s sick daughter, required the organ.

Their trial lasted six weeks, and they are expected to be convicted today at the Old Bailey, London’s Central Criminal Court.

Speaking about the development, Ajulo stated on Channels Television on Friday that Ekweremadu may still have a chance at regaining his freedom.

He said;

There must be a way out’ King Charles’ coronation is an opportunity for a pardon request.

There is a thin line between organ harvesting and donation. The UK Modern Slavery Act rarely weighs the intent of the action.
