Five bills have been enacted into law by Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
In a statement, Governor Bello’s Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammad, praised him for signing the bills.
The bills allowed for the peaceful celebration of cultural festivals, established a road fund management board, established a health science and technology college, and provided for teachers’ retirement.
He claimed that the bills’ goals were to manage road development in Kogi State, advance cultural development, and uphold peace and security.
According to the statement, dignitaries including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, the Attorney General, and the Secretary to the Kogi State Government were present at the signing ceremony, which was held at the Government House in Lokoja.
The bills’ significance in enhancing rural infrastructure and transforming state residents’ lives was emphasised by Governor Bello.
He thanked the Kogi State House of Assembly for their performance and commended the state Attorney General for ensuring compliance with existing laws.
The Speaker of the Kogi House of Assembly, Mr Mathew Kolawole, expressed joy that the bills were passed and signed into law and thanked Governor Bello for promoting a harmonious working relationship between the executive and the legislature and fostering a peaceful atmosphere.
The Speaker also praised the Governor’s commitment to enacting those laws as a sign of his dedication to the development and progress of Kogi State.
