Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, believes that Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior will take home the Ballon d’Or award.
Vinicius has had a fantastic season with Real Madrid thus far.
The 22-year-old has played for Los Blancos in 54 games across tournaments, recording 23 goals and 21 assists.
Vinicius’ accomplishments have been marred by the fact that this stellar season coincided with a racial controversy.
However, Simeone has lifted the mood surrounding the Brazilian by claiming that he could be on course to win his first Ballon d’Or.
He said (via the Madrid Zone), “Can Vinícius Jr. win the Ballon D’Or? With everything he is doing, yes.”
Vinicius may struggle to earn his first Ballon d’Or award this season due to the accomplishments of rival players – Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne.
