Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, a two-term representative for the Owan West Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly, has been elected as its speaker.
He was elected speaker in response to a motion moved by member-elect Natasha Osawaru of the Egor constituency and seconded by member-elect Esan North East 1.
However, Hon. Agbebaku was chosen as the speaker despite the lack of opposition.
Following a motion made by member-elect Hon. Destiny Enabulele, who represents the Ovia South West Constituency, Hon. Marian Edekor, who represents Esan North East 2, was also elected deputy speaker of the house.
The motion was seconded by the member-elect representing Etsako West 2 Constituency.
As at the time of filing in this report, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker elect were administered with the oath of allegiance and office.
