Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has charged the Assets Recovery Committees with ensuring the return of all government assets illegally taken away by Governor Samuel Ortom’s administration.

He delivered the charge during the official inauguration of the Chairman and members of the State and Local Government Assets Recovery Committees at the Government House in Makurdi.

It’s not to victimise or witch hunt anybody but it’s the right thing to do to account for all government assets, he said.

The governor stated that the formation of the committees became necessary due to a large number of cars previously seen with former government officials but now missing.

Alia went on to say that he had received allegations of conversion, abuse, and outright theft of government property and assets and that he felt it was appropriate to put the machinery in motion to recover all that belongs to the state and has been illegally taken away.
