Despite a raft of sweeping reforms that have left Nigerians livid and further impoverished, the presidency has reiterated that citizens are satisfied with president Bola Tinubu’s leadership in the past month of his administration.
Dele Alake, a spokesperson for President Tinubu, gave the verdict in a statement on Sunday.
This is as the presidency also rubbished the European Union report which claimed that the 2023 presidential election was not credible, fair and transparent.
“In just one month in office, Nigerians appear satisfied with the decisive leadership of President Tinubu and the manner he is redirecting the country to the path of fiscal sustainability and socio-economic reforms,
“We urge the EU and other foreign interests to be objective in all their assessments of the internal affairs of our country and allow Nigeria to breathe,” Alake said in a statement on Sunday night..
However, contrary to Alake’s claim, Tinubu has come under barrage of criticism as Boko Haram terrorists and bandits continue their killings and violent attacks across the country continues.
At least 237 persons have been killed across the country in the plethora of reported violent attacks under Tinubu’s watch in his first month in office.
Nigerians have also lambasted Mr Tinubu for asking citizens to sacrifice to save the country from collapse while public office holders continue to feed fat on tax payers’ money.
Mr Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023, announcing the immediate removal of the fuel subsidy. As a result, the petrol pump price skyrocketed to N540 from N195.
However, the president did not mention plans to ameliorate his decision’s negative impact on the masses, a decision the World Bank said could push more Nigerians into poverty.
