Igbalaye Ayodele, an Ogun House of Assembly member representing Abeokuta South Constituency II, has announced the sponsorship of 100 students from his constituency to study at a university in the Republic of Benin.

Ayodele stated that the scholarship for his constituents to attend ESTG University in the Republic of Benin was part of his efforts to promote education among the state’s youth.

Adeyemi Obadimu, the lawmaker’s media adviser, said in a statement on Tuesday that the scholarship recipients were chosen after passing the recent Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The lawmaker stated that his vision and mission are to foster community unity and improve educational quality by championing academic brilliance.

He added, “As we all know, no better gift could be given to our children than a quality education. Education is a powerful driver of development and one of the strongest instruments for reducing poverty, gender equality, peace, and stability.

“You will recall that the scholarship scheme started six years ago with 50 students, but increased to 100 students this year, selecting the beneficiaries from all the public secondary schools in Abeokuta South.

“Over 300 students have benefited from the scheme. This is even, as I intend to increase the number of beneficiaries in the coming years Especially among secondary school students who want to gain admission into the university.”

One of the students, Adeola Oguniyi, who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, prayed for more achievement and success for Ayodele.
