Workers in Ondo State have urged Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who has been battling ill-health for a while to ensure full recuperation before resuming official duties.

The workers represented by the state Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Oladele Victor Amoko, the Joint Negotiating Committee, JNC, Olapade Ademola and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Clement Fatuase, in a statement issued on Thursday emphasised that the full recovery of the governor is of utmost priority.

Akeredolu, who left for a 21-day medical leave abroad a few days ago, is scheduled to return home on July 6, 2023, according to a letter he sent to the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Meanwhile, the governor had on Thursday revealed his eagerness to return to duty but stated that his return to the state will be at the instance of his doctors.

The workers who expressed delight for the swift recovery of the governor, conveyed gratitude to God for granting Akeredolu unwavering grace and healing during his illness.

They said the Governor holds a special place in the hearts of the workers, for what they described as his dedication and commitment to the state.

They acknowledged the demanding nature of his role and the need for him to be in a strong physical and mental condition to effectively discharge his duties.

The workers also extended their support and solidarity to Akeredolu, assuring him of their unwavering backing throughout his recovery process and pledged to continue working diligently in their respective capacities to contribute to the growth and development of the state.

“It is evident that the state is functioning smoothly without hindrance during the governor’s absence.

“Although we miss his competent administrative decisions and interventions, we are confident in his imminent safe return.

“We call upon every citizen and resident of the state to continue to pray for our governor’s well-being.

“He has proven to be the finest governor in recent times, and we stand firmly beside him, providing unwavering support to his administration until the end.”
