The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, expressed optimism on Friday that the Governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, would soon return to the state to continue attending to the development needs of the people.

Omisore made this statement during a solidarity visit to Akure, the capital of Ondo State. He said there should be no need for apprehension regarding the governor’s health status but emphasized that the governor only needs to rest.

During the visit, the National Secretary met with the Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, State Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin, members of the State Working Committee, Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, Chief of Staff, Chief Gbenga Ale, members of the House of Assembly, Commissioners, and other top government officials.

Omisore clarified that the recent wish and prayer of the National Chairman, Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, for the governor had been misinterpreted. He stated that Adamu never said the governor is incapacitated but lamented that some sections of the press chose to be mischievous and reported: “What they feel makes news.”

He said, “Mr Chairman only urged people to pray for the quick recovery of your governor; not on account of being incapacitated. Our visit, therefore, is to reinforce the position of the national secretariat that we only prayed for the quick recovery of Arakunrin Akeredolu, and not otherwise.”

He assured that the national secretariat is in alignment with the State and will always offer support when necessary.

The State Chairman, Adetimehin, dismissed the notion that the state chapter is in crisis, stating that the party remains united under the leadership of Governor Akeredolu. He emphasized the party’s significant contributions to the APC’s victory in the last presidential election and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to unity.

In response, the Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, expressed appreciation to the visiting team for their solidarity. He criticized some members of the press for twisting facts unprofessionally and spreading outright falsehoods. He urged journalists to cross-check information to avoid embarrassing and misleading the public.

The National Secretary was accompanied by the Deputy National Secretary, Mr Festus Fuanter, National Vice Chairman (North Central), Hon. Bawa Muazu, and National Vice Chairman (South West), Hon. Isaacs Kekemeke.
