Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, has condemned the killing and beheading of Labour Party (LP) chieftain Zachary Maduka in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area, Abia State.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, he described the incident as inhuman and barbaric.

He expressed shock at the gruesome murder of the party chieftain, allegedly in front of his family members, by unidentified assailants who also severed and fled with their victim’s head.

Kalu, who represents the state’s Bende Federal Constituency, condemned the act, calling it a sin against God and a heinous crime against humanity.

He expressed condolences to the deceased’s family. He stated that his office is willing to assist the state government in its efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the heinous act and rid the area of insecurity.

Peter Obi reacts to decapitation of 70-year-old LP chieftain

Labour Party Presidential candidate in the February 25th election, Peter Obi, has reacted to the killing of the Party Chieftain in Abia state, Zachary Maduka.

Obi, in a statement on Saturday, expressed shock at the gruesome killing of the party chieftain, describing it as despicable

Obi, who said he received the troubling news upon his return from an international engagement in Bangladesh, implored Governor Alex Otti to ensure those behind such a heinous act were brought to book.

He condoles with the deceased’s family, assuring them that Governor Otti and Abia state government will not abandon them.

“I have been away to Bangladesh for an international engagement, only to arrive home this morning to receive with shock and pain the sad and ugly news of the beheading of a Labour Party Chieftain in Abia state, Zachary Maduka.
