King Lenu Tsaro Igbara (Gbene Teekoo IX), the paramount ruler of the Nortem Bori community in Ogoni, paid a visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairman, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja yesterday.

During the visit, King Igbara stated, “The oil well allotted to Shell Petroleum in Ogoni land was sealed up by Gen. Sani Abacha’s military administration in 1993 following the killing of rights activist, Ken Saro Wiwa.”

“Over the years, Shell’s license to prospect for oil in Ogoni land expired, but upon taking office, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu set about cleaning up Ogoni.” With the success of the clean-up exercise documented, the federal government handed over the well to NNPC, which has since returned to the site in preparation for work.”

In his remarks, Ganduje thanked the Ogoni King for his visit and acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s government’s efforts in the Niger Delta, saying, “The federal government under President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed is very active to clean the hydrocarbons that are there in Ogoni land.”

APC youth leader begs Atiku to discontinue suit against Tinubu in US court

Hyde Kalu, a youth leader from the All Progressives Congress (APC), has appealed to Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to withdraw the lawsuit he filed against President Bola Tinubu in the United States.

In the suit, Atiku requested that a US district court compel Chicago State University, where Tinubu studied, release the President’s academic records.

In a statement on Monday, Kalu urged Atiku to let the Nigerian judiciary handle any disputes arising from the 2023 presidential election.

He emphasized that the legal conflict in the US is causing Nigeria to be perceived negatively by other nations, which is bringing embarrassment to the country.
