  • INEC successfully conducted a mock accreditation exercise and uploaded results to IReV ahead of off-cycle Governorship elections in three states
  • The exercise tested the BVAS system and validated the efficiency of uploading polling unit results, aiming for credible elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully uploaded the results of its mock accreditation exercise to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV). This exercise occurred on Saturday, October 14, 2023, as a prelude to the off-cycle Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States, scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2023.

In a statement by Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, the commission explained that the mock accreditation involved testing the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and uploading polling unit results to IReV. The primary aim was to assess the performance of BVAS and the upgraded IReV systems in the three states, ensuring that BVAS operates flawlessly and validating the efficiency and reliability of the process for uploading polling unit results to IReV.

The statement invited the general public and all stakeholders interested in reviewing the BVAS accreditation data and the results from the mock accreditation exercise to visit results-uat.incportals.com.

INEC emphasized the importance of the mock accreditation exercise in preparing for the Governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi States. The commission stated that this exercise demonstrates its commitment to conducting fair, transparent, and credible elections. By proactively addressing potential challenges and fine-tuning systems, INEC aims to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections and uphold the integrity of the democratic process in the three states.

Chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has reassured that the commission will transmit in real-time all results of the November 11 off-cycle governorship elections in the three states of Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo with INEC Result Viewing Portal (IREV).

Yakubu gave the assurance in Lokoja, Kogi state, on Saturday while carrying out an on-the-spot assessment of the mock accreditation and facilities and the readiness of the INEC office in the state for the election.

His remarks that electoral laws require the transmission came from statements credited to Bayelsa state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Ofiong Efanga, in which he claimed that the election results will be manually collated.
