  • Yusuf emphasized the workshop’s aim to enhance collaboration between security agencies and the Commission, ensuring full enforcement of the Commission’s laws.
  • Mr. Muhyi Magaji has pledged that the Commission will not resign from its ongoing battle against corruption in the state.

Kano State is considered to be among the top states in the nation for combating corruption, according to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s remarks on Thursday.

According to NAN, Yusuf addressed the roles played by law enforcement organisations in the battle against corruption during the opening ceremony of a one-day anti-corruption conference.

The Kano Anti-Corruption Institute hosted a workshop that was arranged by the State Police Command and the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Baffa Bichi, Yusuf said, ”My administration is not interfering and will not interfere in the activities of the Commission.”

He said the present administration had inherited a lot of alleged corrupt cases from the immediate past government headed by Abdullahi Ganduje.

Yusuf said that the workshop would enhance collaboration between the security agencies and the Commission, adding, ”It is aimed at ensuring that the laws of the commission are fully enforced.”

“Just yesterday, a Kano State High Court delivered a judgment in favour of the Commission. The court ruled that the Commission has the jurisdiction to investigate any alleged corrupt case in the state,” he added.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Commission, Mr Muhyi Magaji, said the objective of the symposium was to enhance synergy between the agency and the security agencies towards achieving set objectives.

He vowed that the Commission would not relent in the ongoing fight against corruption in the state.

Earlier , the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Usaini Gumel, said the Command and other security agencies would continue to accord the necessary support to the Commission to bolster the fight against corruption.
