The Lagos state government has sealed the Alaba International Market over gross environmental sanitation offences.

This disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Environment in the state, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, via his official X account on Monday.

The sealing of the popular market in Lagos was supervised by the operatives of the Nigerian police in the state.

According to him, the sealing of the foremost electronics products market was as a result of their inability to comply with the state’s government laws on proper waste disposal and other environmental practices.

Posting pictures of the sealed market, he captioned, “Alaba International Market, Ojo, has been sealed up for poor waste disposal practices, failure to pay their waste bills, and gross environmental sanitation offences.”

However, this is not the first time the Lagos state government is shutting down popular markets in the state over non-compliance with the state’s waste disposal and other environmental practices laws.

The government recently sealed up Mile 12 International market and Owode Onirin market for similar offences.
