The New Imo Campaign Organization, a campaign group supporting Hon Uche Ben Odunzeh, the Gubernatorial Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has strongly denounced the attack on the National Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero.

The organization has characterized the assault as barbaric, unfortunate, and entirely unacceptable, considering it a direct challenge to constitutional democracy.

The New Imo Campaign Organization emphasizes that social activism plays a vital role in social integration and is essential for a healthy democracy.

In a statement issued by the organization, they expressed empathy for the Imo civil servants, whose well-being is at the heart of the matter. They assured that Hon. Odunzeh, the NNPP Governorship Candidate, will prioritize the welfare of civil servants.

Governor Uzodinma Accuses NLC President Ajaero of Blending Politics with Unionism

Governor Hope Uzodinma has levied allegations against the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, claiming that he has mixed politics with his role in the labor union.

Uzodinma, who hails from Imo State, asserted that Ajaero has actively engaged in local politics, suggesting that it may be influencing his actions as a union leader.

Speaking after receiving the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s governorship candidate for the November 11 election from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the governor refuted any involvement in the attack on the labour leader, which took place on Wednesday.

Uzodinma disclosed that his intervention was required to reinstate NLC leaders in his state who had been suspended and replaced with a caretaker committee.
