  • The Northern Caucus pledged a monetary donation of N45 million for developmental projects to support the community’s rebuilding efforts

The Northern Caucuses in the House of Representatives visited the Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, which was “accidentally” bombed by the Nigerian Army. Chairman of the Caucuses, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, revealed this in a statement on Monday.

Expressing their condemnation of the regrettable incident, the Northern Caucus members resolved to pay a condolence visit on Monday, 11th November 2023, to commiserate with the survivors and gather firsthand insights into the unfortunate occurrence. The aim was to understand the incident better and acquire valuable information to prevent future incidents.

As part of their support, the Caucus announced a monetary donation of N45 million in cash, contributed by the Speaker and the Northern Regional Caucus of the Federal House of Representatives. The funds are earmarked for various developmental projects, including healthcare facilities, classrooms, water boreholes, and a community town hall, amounting to 350 million Naira. This initiative aims to support the Federal Government’s efforts in rebuilding the affected community.

The Caucus commended the charitable commitment of the Nigerian military and other security agencies in their patriotic efforts to combat insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities in different parts of the country. They also praised the prompt response and welfare support provided to the incident’s victims by the federal government, led by President Tinubu.

Borno Muslim Women Urge Compensation for Victims of Tudun Biri Bombing

The coalition of Muslim women groups in Borno State is urging the government to compensate the victims of a military drone strike that tragically claimed the lives of over 100 Maulud celebrants in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State.

Hajia Adama Muhammad, the President of the group, made this plea during a press conference in Maiduguri on Sunday, condemning the alarming frequency of bombings in the northern region as an ‘unforgivable crime’ against humanity.

Describing the Nigerian Army’s fatal bombardment as a grave offence, particularly in the context of similar incidents in Northern Nigeria, she highlighted the killing of over 200 people in Kala Balge LGA of Borno, as well as others in Niger and Yobe states. These acts of violence have left numerous families in a state of grief, fear, and insecurity, disrupting the harmonious coexistence of various ethnic and religious groups.
