The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last election, Peter Obi, on Tuesday visited the site of the recent bombing of villagers by the military in Tudun Biri village in the Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Obi visited the enclave to commiserate with the victim’s of the Nigerian army accidental air strikes that killed over 120 villagers.
During his visit, Obi implored the Federal Government to probe the December 3 bombing mishap.
He was at the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in the state capital, where he met with victims who were injured during the devastating misfiring.
The former Anambra governor bemoaned the spate of accidental military bombings and the accompanying loss of lives, adding that the Federal Government was not doing enough to prevent the recurrence of such tragedies.
Obi, however, harped on the need for the government to support the military to ensure that incidents like accidental bombings do not reoccur henceforth.
He said adequate funding for the military is critical in tackling the nation’s security challenges.
Nigeria has so far recorded 16 accidental airstrikes that claimed over 500 lives.
