  • Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas urges Igbo leaders to engage with the federal government, addressing grievances for peace and progress
  • The Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P) aims to curb violent agitations, promote unity, and address insecurity in the region

Tajuddeen Abbas, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has called upon Igbo leaders in the South East to actively engage with the federal government in addressing the legitimate grievances of their people. The statement was made during his address at the launch of the Peace in the South East Project (PISE-P) in Bende LGA, Abia State, on Friday, as reported by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi.

The PISE-P is an initiative spearheaded by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Okezie Kalu, aimed at fostering peace, curbing violent agitations, and addressing insecurity in the region.

Abbas expressed concern over the economic losses incurred by the South East due to ongoing agitations, emphasizing that the peace in the region is integral to the progress of the entire nation. He acknowledged that PISE-P emerged from the deep love of his deputy for the zone and his profound concern regarding the escalating insecurity casting a shadow over the region.

Deputy Speaker Kalu, through his spokesman Livinus Nwabughiogu, reiterated that the initiation of PISE-P is driven by the objective of promoting peace, unity, and development in the South East.
