  • FCT Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSC Idoko Samuel, reported that the commandant issued the charge during a briefing with personnel at the Command’s headquarters in Wuse, Zone 5.
  • The Commandant commended FCT Minister Barr Nyesom Wike for his support to security agencies and assured residents of a swift resolution to the current situation.

Olusola Odumosu, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has directed officers and soldiers in the Command to actively acquire intelligence in order to address the security issues that the region is now facing.

The public relations officer for the FCT Command, CSC Idoko Samuel, stated in a statement on Wednesday that the commandant made this accusation at a meeting with staff members at the Command’s headquarters in Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja.

In the statement, it was stated that the offenders were not spirits but rather members of other societies.

“We must, therefore, intensify efforts by fully activating our intelligence architecture to identify them and ensure they are brought to book,” the statement said

He decried the influx of bandits, especially in communities located in the hinterlands and the fringes of the FCT, stressing that their activities were escalated by the porous borders shared with Niger, Kaduna and Nasarawa states.

He called for heightened collaboration and cooperation of his personnel with the people for a seamless exchange of necessary information to bring the fight against insecurity to a logical conclusion.

“While our war against vandals is ongoing, we must shine our searchlight on the issue of kidnapping that has become the order of the day in FCT.

“Without information to work with, there is little or nothing the security agencies can do,” he said

The Commandant appreciated the Minister of the FCT, Barr Nyesom Wike, for the support he is giving to security agencies in the Federal Capital Territory and assured him and other residents of an end to the current situation soon.
