Mikel Arteta praised Arsenal’s relentless determination after a 5-0 victory against Burnley, keeping the pressure on league leaders Liverpool.

With Liverpool securing a 4-1 win over Brentford earlier, Arsenal’s emphatic performance at Turf Moor marked their fifth consecutive league win.

Sitting in second place, just two points ahead of Liverpool, Arsenal’s pursuit of their first Premier League title since 2004 remains fervent.

The Gunners have exhibited a ruthless streak since returning from a winter training stint in Dubai.

Their recent run includes a 5-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace, a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest, a 3-1 win against Liverpool, a resounding 6-0 triumph over West Ham, and now the comprehensive dismantling of Burnley.

Martin Odegaard set the tone with an early goal, followed by Bukayo Saka’s brace and strikes from Leandro Trossard and Kai Havertz, showcasing Arsenal’s potency in front of goal.

Arteta expressed his delight at the hunger displayed by his players, who showed no signs of complacency despite their recent dominance.

“I’m really pleased with the performance, the result, and the contributions from each player, individually and collectively,” Arteta commented. “The team desired more; they weren’t content with just the lead. They sought more goals and aimed to maintain a clean sheet. It’s satisfying to see that level of consistency.”

When asked about Arsenal’s evident superiority over their recent adversaries, Arteta emphasized their ambition to dominate games and control possession in the opponent’s half.

“Our objective is to dictate play and spend as much time in the opponent’s territory as possible,” Arteta explained. “The players’ movement, intent, and cohesion are evident, and they’re hungry for success. We’ve built momentum, and now it’s crucial to sustain it.”

Arteta acknowledged that the resounding victory over Burnley served as ideal preparation for Arsenal’s upcoming Champions League fixture against Porto in the last 16 first leg.

“As we shift focus to the Champions League, facing Porto in what promises to be a challenging environment, our aim is to replicate this performance and stay true to our style of play,” Arteta affirmed.
