  • Dangote Cement Plc denied attempting to export cement to Cameroon, stating intercepted trucks were delivering products to a customer
  • The company’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer refuted the allegations, presenting evidence of the trucks’ intended delivery destination

Dangote Cement Plc has vehemently denied accusations of attempting to export cement to the Republic of Cameroon via Adamawa State, Nigeria.

The company clarified that two of its trucks, each laden with 900 bags of cement from the Obajana cement plant, were intercepted by security agents in Adamawa State. These trucks were en route to fulfill a customer’s request for delivery to Jamtari in Maiha Local Government Area, Adamawa State.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s executive order banned the transportation of food and building materials across the country’s borders through Adamawa routes, prompting the interception.

Mr. Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Branding and Communication Officer of Dangote Cement Plc, refuted the allegations, highlighting that the company operates a functional cement plant in Cameroon. He emphasized that the intercepted trucks were merely delivering products to a customer, and the security agents overlooked pertinent details on the Waybill.

Chiejina further explained that following the interception, the company’s officials were summoned by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Adamawa State to elucidate the situation. They presented evidence showcasing the trucks’ tracking movement from the DCP Obajana to the point of arrest by soldiers.

“The officials demonstrated the seamless tracking of the trucks, providing clarity on the intended delivery destination,” stated Chiejina.
